About Instructor

My name is Shay, and I am a native English teacher from a

beautiful country called South Africa. I am currently learning my 3rd

language, Mandarin. I have two certifications to teach English: TEFL and

TESOL. This enables me to teach English confidently to those who are

learning it as a second language. I also have just over 3 years of teaching

experience which includes Kids and Adults

In my career, I have spent two years in the United Arab Emirates (Dubai)

to pursue my career in professional hospitality. I have met and worked

with so many different nationalities, and I really understand the

difficulties people face when trying to speak English with confidence,

especially if it is not their first language, and this is where I developed my

passion for teaching English.

My classroom sessions are fun and engaging. I make sure to use bright

colours and props to actively engage the developing mind. I encourage

and motivate my students to be comfortable and relaxed while learning

English because I strongly believe that making mistakes is a progressive

way of learning. I allow my students to learn English in the most fun and

comfortable way possible.

I strongly believe in the importance of shaping young students' minds on

how to think, especially giving them the creative ability to think outside

the box. This allows them to understand things on their level.

Apart from teaching, I enjoy traveling, arts and crafts, watching movies

and reading. And my favourite, which is cooking and trying out new

recipes.
